Internal communication

Why it matters

Good internal communication is essential to the health of every organization. It can inspire and unite teams as well as help build a more efficient and successful organization. Indeed, effective, well-planned and strategic internal communication supports IFAD's efforts to:
  • achieve the Fund's overarching strategic vision and objectives
  • foster a culture of excellence and results
  • further unify its global team
  • make the organization's operations more efficient
  • support the learning and knowledge agendas
  • work together towards a common vision

How can you contribute?

Five rules to connect, be informed and stay engaged:

Rule #1. Stay informed. Every day, check the corporate communications published on the intranet home page also known as the “ log-on page” or “IFADNews”. This is the only place where communications to all employees are posted. Information for sharing on the intranet home page includes: updates on IFAD’s policies and procedures, calendars of the IFAD Senior Management, new minutes of IFAD corporate committees, upcoming events, corporate deadlines, recently released reports/publications, new web stories, job opportunities at IFAD. It is the responsibility of  all staff to make the time to stay informed.

Rule #2.  Share information and knowledge. Contribute to the corporate efforts to make information and knowledge available to all IFAD colleagues regardless of their geographic location and working hours by posting updates on the intranet.

Rule #3.  Connect with your colleagues. Use the social intranet features to connect with your colleagues. Technologies will continue to be updated to facilitate collaboration and social connectivity

Rule #4.  Write good content. Digital content should be short, easy to read and engaging. Make sure you use bullet points to highlight the key points of your message and provide additional links for those interested in learning more.

Rule #5.  Be aware of the IFAD email etiquette. The IFAD email etiquette reminds all staff of the basic principles to ensure the email is used appropriately.
